How your price is actually calculated

Three inputs determine the number you see:

• Chargeable weight — whichever is greater: the parcel's actual weight, or its volumetric weight (calculated from its dimensions). Bulky-but-light parcels are priced on volume, not the number on your bathroom scale.
• The DHL zone pairing between your origin and destination country — this is what sets the base rate
• The current DHL fuel surcharge — a percentage that moves with fuel prices, applied on top of the base rate

Chargeable weight = whichever is higher — actual weight vs. volumetric weight (from L × W × H)

Because the fuel surcharge changes periodically, the calculator links directly to DHL's live surcharge page so the percentage you're entering is always current, not a stale number baked into the page.

Before you book: your shipment needs to be packed

This is the one step people miss:

• The shipment has to be packed and ready before pickup. This isn't a formality — a properly packed and measurable parcel is what makes the weight and dimensions you enter into the calculator accurate.
• If it isn't packed yet, we can arrange packing for you — but this is a separate, additional cost on top of the shipping price, since it's a distinct service from the freight itself.
• Worth knowing: outside India, most international courier networks don't offer packing as part of their service at all — you're expected to arrive with the shipment already packed. So if a later leg of your shipment's journey involves a courier or partner outside India, don't assume packing help will be available there the way it can be arranged here.
